Artificial Intelligence (AI) has rapidly advanced across the globe, with emerging economies like Pakistan making significant strides in AI research, applications, and innovations. In 2024, Pakistan stands at a critical juncture where AI is increasingly being integrated into sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, and industry. This paper highlights the current state of AI development in Pakistan, its potential to drive economic growth, and the challenges it faces in the context of infrastructure, regulatory frameworks, and human capital. We examine key applications of AI within Pakistan and explore how local academic institutions, government initiatives, and private enterprises are shaping the AI landscape. Additionally, we discuss the ethical and societal implications of AI in the context of Pakistan’s unique socioeconomic fabric.
